POSITION SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of this position is manage the healthcare data analytics team. The healthcare data analytics team supports UTP quality initiatives, payer contracts, value-based care programs, revenue cycle and operations by delivering reporting and business intelligence solutions to the organization. In addition to supporting the data analytics platform management, this individual will provide consultation and solutions for complex issues to leadership. The manager will provide strategic direction to the team, establish priorities and oversee multiple projects that align to UTP goals and priorities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead and oversee the work of the data analysts in all aspects of their duties. This includes day to day supervision and work assignment; oversight of staff development; maintenance of position descriptions; and employee evaluations and productivity monitoring.
  • Facilitate effective workload balance and priorities of data analysts
  • Drive data governance and quality across the medical group.
  • Direct the team's efforts in requirements gathering, designing, developing, testing, validating and implementing ad-hoc requests, reports and solutions within given timelines.
  • Build, maintain and enhance reports and dashboards that provide insights on operations and value-based care programs.
  • Deliver performance reporting and variation analysis to partners and stakeholders, effectively communicating findings through storytelling and data visualization and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and prioritize business intelligence and reporting needs and establish standards and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications and end-user documentation for team projects and analyses.
  • Develop and standardize documentation detailing processes for report production, testing and delivery.
  • Oversee the research, evaluation, deployment and maintenance of revenue cycle, business analytics support systems and care delivery systems and tools. This includes maintenance of master files, user files, data validation procedures, new release review and documentation of procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of operations and revenue cycle sufficient to identify factors that may affect analysis and report findings.
  • Recommend improvements to maximize process efficiency and report management.
  • Partner with IT to manage implementation and administration of business intelligence reporting systems and tools.
  • Build and leverage effective relationships across the enterprise to understand, shape and meet business demand.
  • Leverage clinical, pharmacy, demographics and care management data to evaluate financial risk, identify medical economic trends and assess the performance of clinical programs for quality and financial outcomes.
  • Develop financial models to support optimization, negotiation, and expansion of VBC and shared risk arrangements.
  • Advises the director of on strategic and budgetary needs related to the business analytics infrastructure.
  • Provide strong project management and problem-solving skills to help the team creatively develop data solutions.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Data Systems, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or related field. Other areas of specialization will be considered with applicable experience in healthcare.
  • License and/or Certification: NA
  • Skills:
    1. Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and other desktop analytics tools.
    2. Intermediate SQL, SPSS, SAS or other reporting and querying skills.
    3. Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools.
    4. Experience with EPIC EMR.
    5. Ability to analyze and draw conclusions from data and present analyses using available tools, charts, and software.
    6. Ability to support multiple assignments, shift priorities in accordance with need and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
    7. Advanced understanding of healthcare terminology and operations including ICD, CPT, rev codes, PMPM, utilization rates, case mix, attribution methods, risk adjustment, quality metrics and episode groups.
    8. Ability to work independently and propose solutions to business problems.
    9. Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Years of Experience: 3-5 years of experience in healthcare data analytics setting and 2-3 years of leadership experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Master's Degree in in Business Administration, Mathematics, Data Systems, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or related field. Other areas of specialization will be considered with applicable experience in healthcare.
  • License and/or Certification: Cogito, Clarity, Caboodle
  • Skills:
    1. Experience with Power BI.
    2. Experience with Alteryx.
    3. Experience with SSRS.
    4. Population health experience.
  • Years of Experience: 5+ years' experience in data analytics, data management, data modeling or related experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Primarily sedentary in nature with occasional lifting of small objects weighing approximately 10 pounds; sitting; standing; walking; talking and hearing.
  • Primarily inside in well-lighted, ventilated areas.
