Position Description:

This technician must complete all assigned preventative maintenance for required pieces of equipment. In addition, the technician will assist with special projects throughout the facility and complete all tasks requested by the lead person and/or Supervisor.


Essential Functions:

· Designs control systems for machine applications ranging in complexity from basic to intermediate. Design activities will include component selection, layout of control panel, junction boxes, and operator stations, using AutoCAD Electrical to create schematics. Control systems must be compliant with best practices, functional needs, and applicable codes and requirements.

· Create bills of materials for assigned projects. Gets quotes for components, uses purchasing software to process orders, receives parts, and stages them for assembly.

· Leads or supports the in-shop assembly and testing of new machines.

· Leads or supports installation and start-up of new equipment and control systems.

· Assists plants in troubleshooting existing equipment. This may be remote (phone, Teams, going online with control system) or on-site.

· Provides training to plant personnel and as part of the equipment commissioning process. Also, provides technical training as an instructor through the Engineering Pathways program.

· Provides documentation for projects to be included in the equipment manual. Works with staff technical writer on completion of the manual.

· A willingness to travel (approximately 25%) and work some weekends

Requirements:

Qualifications:

· Successful completion of two years formal education beyond high school in a related degree program or at least 4 years of related work experience.

· Experience using Rockwell Software including RSLogix 500, Studio 5000 Logix Designer, and FactoryTalk View (SE or ME).

· In-depth understanding of electrical controls technology.

· Experience with CAD software.

· Strong mechanical aptitude.

· Strong troubleshooting skills.

· An up to date understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC).

· Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Preferred: Ability to create electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
