As Stemilt’s Workers Comp Specialist / Jr Business Partner you will partner with Payroll and Benefits to process Workers Compensation claims and OSHA programs.  This role collaborates closely with internal/external customers and providers.  Analyzes data to produce reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually, and ensures all filings for OSHA / L and I reporting are completed accurately and on time. Additionally, this role also assists Payroll and Benefits.

This role supports all Stemilters. Extraordinary customer service delivery at all levels and extreme confidentiality a must.

Additional Responsibilities

Workers Compensation

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of comprehensive Workers Comp. and OSHA Programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulations and legislation that are tied to worker’s comp, effectively communicate changes to appropriate parties.
  • Handle the entire lifecycle of workers' compensation claims, including intake, processing, and resolution.
  • Oversee different programs, including light-duty job offers, retraining, etc.
  • Collaborate with Business Partners to determine options in light-duty jobs available for Stemilters.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all OSHA reports and logs and the completion of annual OSHA filing.
  • Stay abreast of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing workers' compensation and ensure compliance in all activities.
  • Oversee the progress in open claims and provide a proper return to work for Stemilters.
  • Participate in regular meetings with TPA’s, OSHA and WC representatives.
  • Collaborate with WC Team to research software systems for implementation for efficiencies and cost-benefits.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Stemilters, supervisors, insurance carriers, medical providers, and legal representatives regarding workers' compensation matters.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of all claims, correspondence, and related documentation in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective return-to-work programs to facilitate the timely and safe return of injured employees to the workplace.

Jr. Business Partner Duties

Work closely with the Human Capital department to help implement projects and programs that align with organizational goals.

  • Partner with HC Team in cross-training in Safety.
  • Participate as a member of the Safety Council.
  • Understand Stemilt’s business objectives and recommend changes/improvements that support them.
  • Provide functional HC expertise and successfully execute HC projects and assigned HR functions.
  • Assist the Payroll and Benefits team when needed.
  • Create a culture within the team that leads to ensuring extraordinary customer service for all team members.
  • Hold self and team accountable and ensure the development of a self-leadership team culture.
  • Contribute to the team and the Company in various other ways when requested or required.
  • Ensures all areas of responsibility are managed digitally and operate in a paperless environment.
  • Conduct research and stay up to date on industry trends.
  • Monitor compliance of Company, WISHA and OSHA regulations.

Experience:

  • +5 years’ experience in worker’s compensation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of state and federal worker’s compensation laws
  • Experience with UKG/Kronos a plus

 

Qualifications:

Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
