Job Title Metal Fabricator III

Department Fabrication Department

Reports to Fabrication Coordinator

FLSA Status Non-Exempt

Customary Workdays M-F w/ Occasional Weekend

Customary Work Hours 7:00am – 3:30pm (½ hour lunch) w/overtime as required

Position Summary

  • Under the direction of the Fabrication Coordinator, the Metal Fabricator III will be responsible for production of quality parts, pieces, and/or completed products for any complex projects
  • The Fabricator III will perform work free-hand or utilize fixtures/jigs that have been created

Key Functions & Responsibilities

  • Develop layout and sequence of operations for fabrication and assembling custom structural metal products, applying print reading, mathematics, and knowledge of metals and welding
  • Position, align, fit, and weld together parts, using jigs, welding torch, arc welder, and hand tools
  • Verify conformance of work – piece to specifications using square, ruler, and tape measure
  • Fully capable of performing MIG welding with TIG welding as a plus
  • Set up and correctly use shop machines such as welders, oxy/acetylene torch, plasma cutter, metal shear, press brake, and burn table
  • Utilize all powered and unpowered hand tools
  • Provide own tools for standard fabricating tasks – specialty tools provided
  • Operate fork trucks and overhead cranes
  • Keep work area and surrounding adequately clean
  • Observe and follow all safety rules as well as general company rules
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to be disciplined, organized, and motivated to perform with little to no direct supervision
  • Capable of fabricating and assembling a quality product
  • Mentor and help guide Metal Fabricator I and II
  • Adhere to company's safety policies to create a safe work environment for employees
  • Other duties may be assigned at any time

  • Preferred
  • At least 8 years on the job of metal fabrication/machine building experience
