We are looking for a Chemist to serve as a junior level chemist in the Chemistry Laboratory. Incumbent prepares and analyzes samples for antibiotics in wastewater as part of a wastewater epidemiology project. This position will be full-time and onsite

What You’ll Do

  • Performs highly complex chemical analysis on environmental, food or clinical matrices to determine the level of contaminants or toxic substances using sophisticated instrumentation in compliance with EPA, FDA, or CLIA requirement

  • Adheres to Quality Assurance guidelines

  • Maintains proficiency and technical expertise by passing Proficiency Testing (PT) samples

  • Maintains assigned instrumentation in working order; performs preventative maintenance and repair on laboratory equipment

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both within and outside of the laboratory

  • Work Schedule: On site, Monday thru Friday, 7.5H days

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or physical science

  • Min. 2 years of work experience as an analytical Chemist

  • Technical knowledge of and ability to operate highly complex laboratory equipment such as LC/MS/MS, LC/QTOF and GC/MS/MS

  • Extensive knowledge of appropriate state & federal laws, rules, regs, and policies relative to the specialty area such as EPA, FDA, DEA, ISO 17025, CLIA

  • Ability to design analytical techniques and develop new methods of analysis

  • Ability to assist with epidemiological and/or statistical reports from data compiled on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis

  • Broad knowledge of principles and practices of analytical, organic and inorganic chemistry with subsequent experience during the last 2 years

  • Prior working experience with GC-MS, LC-MS/MS and proficient use of same for qualitative and quantitative analysis

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Sciex equipment such as QTRAP 6500+ and X500QTOF

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
