DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will perform professional and technical tasks related to environmental education and interpretive programs at the Elk Country Visitor Center and Region 1. Your responsibilities will include developing program plans, coordinating activities, and managing interpretive information. Additionally, you will support the Environmental Education Regional Program Coordinator by conducting research, gathering data, and assessing visitor needs for parks throughout Region 1. Furthermore, you will act as the primary contact for key partnerships such as PA Wilds, PA Lumber Museum, and Keystone Elk Country Alliance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time, seasonal employment without benefits
  • Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel and overnight stay may be required
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in natural resource management or natural resource education; and a bachelor's degree in natural resource management, parks and recreation, education, biology, forestry, ecology, geosciences, environmental sciences, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
  • This particular position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • You must pass a background investigation.
