Job Description
Job Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant position is responsible for maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded in the GL and roll up to accurate and timely financial statements. This position ensures the accuracy of entries to general ledger accounts, reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger, reviews work in process, and prepares complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. Analytics will be utilized to identify inconsistent trends within accounts and assist management in assessing financial performance. This is an in person position.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate and timely financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly and timely recorded
- Preparing complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flows and other financial reports
- Reviewing general ledger accounts and preparing adjusting journal entries
- Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts
- Maintaining general ledger charts of accounts
- Assisting with the month-end closing process, conducting research and making correcting journal entries for account discrepancies, preparing closing journal entries, and posting accrual entries
- Supporting accounts receivable and accounts payable teams in reviewing work in process
- Analyzing financial information through proficient development of spreadsheets and information validation
- Responsible for accounting for fixed and intangible asset schedules
- Assisting with internal control evaluations
- Posting monthly, quarterly and annual accruals
- Performing various complex account analyses and reconciliations of subsidiary ledgers to general ledger
- Preparing and filing sales tax returns
- Analyzes transactions with internal and external stakeholders
- Conducts month-end and year-end closures
- Prepares documents for audits

Education, Work Experience, and Required Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a Major in Accounting
- Minimum 4 years of stable work history within accounting in a corporate environment
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Strong Financial Management/Economics/Accounting knowledge
- Exceptional computer skills, including expertise in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with an ERP-level accounting system
