Job Description

The qualifying Operator will participate in an accelerated training program to grow their career in the RRD manufacturing environment that features 4 (four) graduating steps of increasing skill level, responsibility, and pay.  This training program may be completed in as few as 18 months or as many as 30 months (with manager approval), depending on the participant’s pace of progress. Upon graduating from the program, the participant will be fully qualified and accountable to assume the duties and receive the compensation of an experienced Operator.

  1. Become proficient in print and manufacturing terminology.
  2. Work closely with the management team to understand and assist with implementing action plans to achieve department objectives.
  3. Assume a leadership role in directing crew activities to meet production deadlines safely and efficiently.
  4. Produce a quality product that exceeds our customer’s expectations, following the requirements of documented processes as defined in the Quality Management System.
  5. Assist management with supporting and implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives, departmental maintenance activities, training, safety and special projects.
  6. Assists with training of new employees and directs all crew activities connected with the operation of the press.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of chemicals and materials used in production, their interactions, danger signs, and disposal methods.
  8. Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out – tag out rules and eye protection policies.
  9. Reinforce safety training and safe work practices; participate in safety meetings. 
  10. Comply with company standard operating procedures and policies for equipment operation. 
  11. Maintain a clean work area by properly storing supplies and equipment, removing waste, cleaning tools and eliminating spills. 
  12. Recognize diversity.  Be inclusive and act professionally with all people in the work environment.
  13. Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
  14. Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Effectively communicate with all team members while building collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to follow the sequence of production operations and workflow operations undertaken within the commercial web press operations.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Recognize, identify, and analyze problem situations, and collaborate with others to generate options and alternative solutions.
  • Ability to operate various hand tools.
  • Ability to perform a variety of calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages, in addition to using a standard ruler.
  • Possess strong attention to detail and quality of work product.
  • Possess basic computer skills.
  • Related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus

Required Experience:

Requires comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of techniques, procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain equipment to produce single-, two-, and/or multi-color work to critical tolerances.

 



Additional Information

Wages increase in steps completed throughout the program.

  **Overtime & Weekends may be required at times**

The pay range for this role at the noted location is $24.00-$38.00/ hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay.
