Position Purpose:

The Warehouse/Non-CDL Driver Assistant is responsible for the execution of food delivery directly to client’s homes through the Facing Hunger Food Bank Home Delivery Program. To meet operational objectives while ensuring compliance with safety, security, regulatory, and compliance policies. The Warehouse/Non-CDL Driver Assistant will assist in day-to-day activities inside the warehouse when not performing deliveries. All responsibilities shall be consistent with Facing Hunger Food Bank’s mission to lead the fight against hunger.

Position Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

· Creating daily routes using methods that optimize efficiency for fleet of FHFB’s vehicles to perform home deliveries and assistance.

· Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to client’s homes.

· Communicate with warehouse leadership, drivers, program team and/or clients directly to address customer service or delivery issues that arise.

· Provides superior customer service internally and externally.

· Ensure compliance with food safety, company policies, federal, state and local regulations.

· Track mileage, fuel usage, labor hours, products delivered, and other miscellaneous items for budget purposes.

· Monitor vehicle conditions and make recommendations of maintenance needs to transportation manager.

· Assist Home Delivery and Truck Drivers internally to ensure an effective and efficient operation of home deliveries and other scheduled deliveries.

· Assist in Warehouse day-to-day activities - picking orders, loading/unloading trucks, preparing orders, cleaning, and other activities that could be assigned.

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills/Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities an individual needs in order to perform this job successfully.

Education and/or Experience:

· High School diploma/GED and 1-2 years of administrative/customer service experience

· Mapping/Delivery/Routing Software experience preferred

· Multi-Lingual preferred, but not required

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

  • Valid driver's license/Clean driving record. Must be insurable by company vehicle insurance provider.

Skills and Abilities:

· Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately to those we serve.

· Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communications skills.

· Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.

· Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook are helpful, but not required.

· Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment with multifaceted demands.

· A commitment to full and visible participation as a hunger relief leader in the community.

· Ability to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.

· Ability to lift and/or and move 50 lbs. regularly and to push/pull 2,000lbs. of product using manual pallet jack.

· Ability to operate electric and manual pallet jacks.

· Ability to sit, stand, speak clearly, see, feel and have manual dexterity.

· Ability to drive.

· Ability to work in hot and cold and different weather conditions.
