Job Purpose and Summary

Responsible for the coordination of the packaging process, ensuring the accuracy of all information and orders are being completed according to process assignments and work orders.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare process assignments for the arrival of assigned staff including the preparation of labels and packaging machines for daily workload.
  • Supervise assigned staff and designate daily tasks.
  • Carry out the Plant Managers plan and notify of any deviations or issues.
  • Verify the accuracy of all information before packing is correct along with counts, weights, and packing material type.
  • Verify seed counts are accurate before packing.
  • Create packing labels in Label Viewer per customers/CSR requests (Process Assignments).
  • Double check labels created by packing line B.
  • Become familiar with and understand all packing machinery including setup, calibration and utilization. (ActionPak, Data Counter, Ball).
  • Lead the packing of orders in appropriate boxes per order and label accordingly.
  • Understanding and utilizing ABS.
    • Processing PA’s
    • Picking of orders in the system
    • Packing orders in the system
  • Ability to use UPS World Ship to ship orders and samples as requested as needed.
  • Maintain a monthly inventory of packaging materials.
  • Maintain an organized file system for all orders that have been shipped keeping all documents, labels and pertinent information together for future reference
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Dimensions and Qualifications

Internal Contacts: Plant Manager, warehouse personnel, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain personnel, Customer service representatives, Coater.

External Contacts: Third party vendors and contract workers.

Educational Level and Focus: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role.

Skills and Abilities:

Interpersonal and Communication: Manage small groups of employees. Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them at all times. The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person and to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Ability to remain proactive throughout work day. Bilingual in Spanish, is a plus.

Technical and Analytical: Ability to convert weights and use basic math. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have attention to detail and well organized. Also must be able to problem shoot and fix machinery as necessary within limitations.

Physical Demands: Must be able to work at least 40 hours per week. Able to stand, bend, squat repeatedly or for a period of time. Able to lift up to 15 KG.

Work Environment: Cold, hot and humid conditions, wet floors, high noise levels, forklift and pedestrian traffic.

Special Equipment Used: Ability to operate machinery including 5k, 3k, 3k walk behind forklifts, large and analytical scales, ActionPak canning machines, data count seed counters, ball hort seed counters, Contador seed counte. Ability to utilize ABS system, UPS Worldship and LabelView.
