Position Description: Assistant Manager
Reports to: General Manager, Director of Operations, & Owner
Status: Full-Time

Job Summary
The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting Park’s mission of building up leaders through outdoor sports
and recreation. The Assistant Manager will have three key areas of responsibility:

  1. Daily Operations: Assist General Manager in day-to-day park operations
  2. Staff & Culture: Hire, train, and develop staff to become a strong team and eventually, leaders
  3. Community: Development and improvement of programs that serve our community


Daily Operations: Assist General Manager in day-to-day park operations
Goal: Assist General Manager in day-to-day park operations so that we can serve our guests in a way that honors them and steward our resources well
Application:

  1. Ensure all amenity activity equipment and park resources are in proper working order
  2. Manage employees during park hours to ensure guests have a five star experience (Masterchiefing)
  3. Be on the schedule in Operations roles (such as Aqua Guide, Ticket Sales, Operator, etc.) and be willing & able to respond to emergency situations
  4. Manage communication with guests (info email line, donation requests, mailchimps, etc.)
  5. Assist with restocking concessions & merchandise as needed
  6. Help promote and improve our cable membership program

Staff & Culture: hire, train, and develop staff to become a strong team and leaders
Goal: we build a culture amongst our staff that is more than just a punch in/punch out and “flipping burgers.” We want our staff to be family, to feel connected and plugged in, and to know we care about them deeply. Staff will also be highly trained and competent in serving our guests.
Application:

  1. Participate in the hiring process (application review, interviews, initial orientation, on-boarding paperwork)
  2. Assist in the training of team members and conducting regular in-services & staff meetings
  3. Leadership development of staff
    • Review Team Members for consideration to become a Team Leader and/or Masterchief
    • Conduct regular (weekly or biweekly) Team Leader meetings during the summer (May-August).
  4. Plan & host team building activities & work with management to pour into all staff members

Community: development and improvement of programs that serve our community
Goal: we strive to build programs & events that serve our community both in the type of activities they want to participate in, and also serves in a way that goes beyond a business transaction and aims to eventually reach them with the Gospel.
Application:

  1. Support the execution of the summer camp program
    • Assist in staff training specific to camp
    • Be the lead for every other week of summer camp
    • Manage camper registration & collecting camper fees
    • Be plugged in to all aspects of camp as needed: spiritual/devotional, logistics (camper registration, timing, food, etc.), partnering with sponsors, providing scholarships, and providing quality activity sessions for campers
  2. Support the execution of clinics, Devos on the Dock, and various events as needed

Measurable Goals

  • Maintain a safe facility: measured by reflecting on waterfront emergencies and preventing as able
  • Maintain a positive work environment: measured by staff feedback indicating that they feel supported and challenged
  • Guests enjoy their experience: measured by park reviews and ratings maintaining 4.5 stars or higher across various platforms (google, facebook, etc.)

General Qualifications

  • Is able to agree with our mission and vision
  • Is willing to forego personal rights for the common good of Park, staff and guests
  • Is flexible and able to work with a variety of staff
  • Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job.
    • Will work between roughly 40 hrs/week September – April, with 2 days off/week
    • Will work between 45-60 hrs/week May – August, with 1.5 days off/week
    • Must be willing to work 1-2 Sunday mornings/month as needed
    • Will receive 10 days of Paid Time Off (no more than 3 consecutive days between May 1-August 31)

Specific Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must be a leader, a team player, and a self-motivated decision maker.
  • Exceptional integrity in matters of fiscal accountability, confidentiality, and personal family life.
  • Strong interpersonal, creative, strategic, analytic, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to partnering with the leadership of Waypoint Parks in matters pertaining to the overall ministry and mission
  • Strong written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required; the park maintains the right to reassign or
  • change duties as required
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certified; ideal to also be LGI certified or willing to obtain LGI certification
  • Willing and able to lead in emergency situations
  • Sesitec Cable Operator certified or willing to be certified

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; increased amounts of weight may be required.
  • Must be able to endure long hours outside in summer sun

Educational

  • One summer of experience at park preferred, but not required
