A Day in the Life of:

As a member of our Summer Camp team, you will provide Camp Baker with the ability to operate a summer camp program for persons with disabilities. You will be responsible for supervising camp counselors and consumers enrolled in camp during overnight hours and for leading work of other counselors scheduled overnight. Your people skills will come in handy and will help you to maintain fantastic professional relationships with your fellow team members and those that we serve.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides direct supervision and support to consumers overnight while they are attending summer camp.
  • Encourages through positive behavioral support the ability for consumers to spend the night safely.
  • Stays awake overnight and alerts scheduled sleeping staff when additional supports are needed.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork (i.e. incident reports, behavioral management logs, consumer activity/billing data sheets, etc.) accurately with factual, descriptive information.
  • Assists consumers with completion of overnight personal care/hygiene needs as may be necessary

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of college preferred but not required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in the areas of special education, psychology, recreation, therapy preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities required.
  • Requires ability to supervise persons with disabilities in a center-based, summer camp, residential program.
  • Requires ability to direct the work of others when their assistance is needed.
