Job Description:
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with over 8 years of litigation experience to join our client's team in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will support attorneys by providing a variety of administrative services and facilitating the delivery of legal services.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintain and organize client files, including both physical and electronic files
Create, revise, redline, and proofread legal documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards
Manage the production and distribution of documents and file pleadings with the appropriate courts or agencies
Track and manage deadlines and adhere to docketing procedures to ensure all critical dates are recorded
Coordinate and manage projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time
Handle client communications, including incoming calls, emails, correspondence, and mail
Assist with the billing process, including entering and reviewing attorneys’ weekly billable time, and managing the review, editing, and distribution of monthly pre-bills
Perform preliminary conflict checks, prepare client intake forms, and draft engagement letters
Job Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of legal terminology, forms, documents, practices, and procedures, including docketing and calendaring rules
Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform detailed work accurately, thoroughly, and consistently
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with document management systems, preferably ProLaw
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Skilled at proofreading material for contextual, grammatical, typographical, or spelling errors
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive materials with discretion
Capable of operating independently with minimal supervision
Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred; a minimum of two to three years of prior legal assistant experience required
