Instructional Design Specialist - Shopko Optical

POSITION SUMMARY:

Design, coordinate, and document a wide range of training activities and programs for both new hires and existing teammates. Partner with field and center leadership to understand business needs. Utilize information to develop appropriate organizational training materials and programs. Maintain a thorough understanding of all Shopko Optical center processes and procedures. Stay current with industry and adult learning trends to offer creative solutions to meet training needs of teammates and the business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

TRAINING ADMINISTRATION

• Collaborate with Chief Experience Officer and other senior leadership to identify

training needs and develop appropriate training content specifically focused on center operations

• Design and coordinate training processes for all new hires and existing center teammates

• Maintain accurate and updated training records and related documentation

• Conduct teammate surveys and interviews to gather feedback; use information to evaluate training materials or programs

• Evaluate, update, and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for center operations

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

• Develop best-in-class learning programs for on-the-job training and teammate development

• Create content and facilitator instructions to support delivery of on-the-job and other training

• Build innovative learning tools, resources, and programs to enhance organizational success

• Develop testing and evaluation procedures

• Design and maintain Shopko Optical Intranet e-learning materials including procedures, vendor references, and departmental guides

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience

• 2-5 years training experience, preferably in a corporate setting or retail health industry

• Knowledge of adult learning and instructional design

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

• Exceptional presentation, facilitation, and delivery skills

• Able to work independently

• Able to work at all levels of the organization

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Solid problem-solving skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and

two-way verbal communication

• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time

• Able to operate various office equipment (e.g., personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.)

• Able to read and write at a high school graduate level

• Able to lift 10 to 20 pounds

• Able to view/read computer screen for extended periods of time

• Able to work normal office hours to meet established deadlines

• Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal

development

• Able to travel significantly to meet training needs (auto, airline, overnight, etc.)
