Job Title: Tray Former Apprentice Clamshell

Department: Tray Department

Reports To: Supervisor

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsibility of learning the machine(s) to insure that quality products are achieved at a consistent rate of speed in accordance with machine standards, color requirements, and ensure all safety procedures are followed.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains procedures concerning operation unless the training program is changed and recorded in the training procedure
  • Learn to set up machine in a consistent manner as instructed in the training program, maintain the procedures with regard to proper set up unless the training is changed and properly recorded with regard to procedure
  • Learns to make machine adjustments in order to maintain machine at safety, quality, and production standards
  • Follow all checklist procedures fully, keep all parts in their proper place, and recommend replacement or repair of worn parts by filling out the designated form
  • Observe safety procedures at all times
  • Learn to operate or set up tray machines as directed to meet production requirements
  • Responsible for the quality of product manufactured concerning correct viscosity, color, shading, contrast, straining, and ink used
  • Uses computer system to log productivity and remarks on job, accurately completes production report and record production data
  • Inspects printed trays to verify accuracy and clarity of printing analyze and correct production problems, using all of the enhanced tools available contacting the supervisor for assistance when necessary
  • Document and report all non-conforming product to supervisor
  • Maintains accurate logs of productivity, maintenance, and downtime
  • Use available tools for quality in holding color (Running to the numbers)
  • Be responsible for all equipment, tools assigned, and notify the supervisor of any additional tools or equipment that would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation
  • Learns to troubleshoot, diagnose, and assists in repair of machine malfunctions; performs routine cleaning, and maintenance
  • Follow all instructions issued on the work jacket and advise the supervisor of any incorrect or non-recorded information that is necessary for proper set-up and operation
  • Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation
  • Keep all necessary supplies available to the operator to ensure an efficient operation
  • Be responsible for the quality of the product, packaging, labeling, and stocking
  • Ensure pallet loads are counted, tagged, and entered to the production report
  • Maintain a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and fans in accordance with our 5S system

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software. Must have mechanical ability and skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read a tape measure, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with arms and hands. Frequently is required to climb, balance, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lifts/moves 25 to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform these functions for a minimum of 8 hours straight (with a 30-minute meal break any other applicable breaks during the shift) on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team member successfully performing the essential functions of this job. Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements as is availability for overtime work if necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to a dusty atmosphere with loud noise, which may require both eye and ear protection in some areas. Moving mechanical parts will also be exposed; safety guards have been put in place for the safety of all Team members but during set up, if a machine must be broken down and reassembled to complete the next job, questions regarding such operation should be directed to your supervisor as they arise. The work environment characteristics described are representative of those a Team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
