Bright Mission Recovery is looking to hire a substance abuse counselor for our detox and residential program.


Position Title: Counselor


JOB DESCRIPTION

This position reports to the Clinical Director

To provide ongoing support and expertise through the provision of case management services, including assessing resident’s administrative needs, including utilization review and follow-up, in order to assure the quality and continuity of patient care.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Will be licensed, certified, or registered to obtain certification pursuant to the California Code of Regulations, Chapter 8, Section 13035 (f).
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a drug and alcohol treatment setting
  • Minimum 1 year completed in HSAD coursework
  • Registered and/or certified as required by DHCS
  • CADC, SUDCC, LADC


Competencies:

  • Proficient in documentation
  • Understanding of boundaries in a clinical environment
  • Proficient with an EMR, KIPU preferred
  • Proficient in assessing Pt needs
  • Proficient in treatment planning
  • Proficient in the 12 core functions of SUD treatment


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Screening, intake and orientation
  • Provide case management services, including assessment of general needs, and follow-up in order to ensure that their case management needs are being met by program
  • Analyzes resident records to determine legitimacy of admission, treatment, and length of stay in program to comply with government and insurance company reimbursement policies
  • Analyzes insurance, governmental, and accrediting agency standards to determine criteria concerning admissions, treatment and length of stay of residents
  • Reviews application for resident admission and approves admission (based on insurance or funding source approval) or refers case to Program Director for further utilization review for review and course of action when case fails to meet admission standards
  • Provides and develops referrals to appropriate services in the community
  • Participates in outreach and marketing activities
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned by the Program Director
  • Follows up with discharged residents as scheduled in discharge plan when approved by discharged residents, under the supervision of Clinical Director
