About the Position

As an Environmental Technician, you will support sustainable development through responsible environmental stewardship while working closely with Project Management to facilitate the successful accomplishment of project goals and objectives.

Organizational Relationships:


·         Accountable to the Environmental Practice Group Leader

·         Effectively communicate and coordinate with Environmental Practice Group Team Members, Project Managers, and support staff.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

In your role as Environmental Technician, you will be part of our growing team by performing the functions and duties listed below:


 

Environmental

·         Prepare environmental documents related to land use changes, community plans, and projects integrating biological resources investigations, hydrology, water quality, short-term construction activities, noise analysis, cultural resources, agricultural features, geology, land use, recreation, redevelopment, urbanizing areas, and/or regulatory compliance activities

·         Perform specialized work within the discipline for review and final quality assurance and quality control by Environmental Practice Group Leader

·         Attend team and project coordination meetings as assigned


·         Serve as a catalyst for communication, collaboration, and team building within the Environmental Practice Group, with Project Management, and between Offices and other Practice Groups, consistently demonstrating our firm’s commitment to our team members and clients

·         Enforce and support our standards for consistent and superior client management and professional service delivery, as well as technical excellence

·         Promote and contribute to the sharing of Practice Group resources across the firm to ensure our overall goals and objectives are achieved

·         Communicate regularly with and proactively advise the Environmental Practice Group Leader of any significant challenge or obstacle on projects

 


Marketing & Business Development

·         Participate in the plan for civic and community leadership and overall engagement in the community for the Environmental Practice Group

·         Assist with new business proposals in conjunction with Marketing and Project Management and participate in go/no go decisions, proposal reviews, and agreement execution as per JDE policies ensuring all pursued projects align with our core values and strategic goals


 

Other

·         Participate in Practice Group and alma mater recruitment efforts

·         Maintain and expand professional capabilities through membership and other involvement in industry associations and professional organizations, pursuing appropriate continuing education, certifications, and writing and speaking opportunities, coordinating with the Human Resources Coordinator

·         Practice mindful awareness of your activities and surroundings, and follow all company, OSHA, federal, state, and local health and safety guidelines and requirements

·         Performs other related duties as assigned by Senior Leadership

 

Experience & Certifications Required:

·         Bachelor of Science Degree in natural resources, chemical, civil, environmental, geology, or other related environmental fields or equivalent experience

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


·         Excellent written, verbal, and technical communication skills

·         Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

·         Awareness of local, state, and federal environmental regulations

·         Self-motivated, engaged, team-oriented, and strategic thinking with the ability to work independently

·         Demonstrate personal investment in your career

·         Energetic and flexible in order to perform in fast-paced environment and resolve challenges

·         Confident and forward thinking

·         Handle multiple tasks under pressure and prioritize responsibilities

Other Requirements

Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record

Regular travel by car required to other offices, client sites, and project sites

Occasional air travel required

 

Physical Requirements

The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds.

 

Working Conditions

Typically, in an office or mobile office environment with occasional visits to client and project sites. In addition, the team member may be required to visit project sites in various weather conditions and extremes if needed. The use of special safety precautions and/or equipment may be required.

 

The team member may be required to attend client meetings in the evening, as well as occasionally travel overnight for out-of-town projects and/or to other offices.
