Salary: $25-$30 hourly

Would you like to make a difference in the lives of children while working with an amazing team?  The SpOT Clinic is in search of a PRN- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA) to assist the Physical Therapist to provide direct therapy to children.


Requirements: includes completion and graduation from an accredited Associate’s Degree Physical Therapy Assistant program, to include successful completion of a state licensure examination.


The LPTA is expected to implement individually designed interventions according to company guidelines and state licensing regulations while following the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist. The interventions are planned with the supervising therapist (Physical Therapist). The assistant is expected to review outcomes and modify intervention programs in coordination with the supervising therapist.


Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide individualized physical therapy to children ages 0 - 21 years of age.

2. Assists and supports the physical therapist to following students' individualized goals and treatment in the public schools and private practice clinics.

3. Creates instruction, per licensing allowance, and makes independent decisions in the implementation of goals with children, as directed by the supervising physical therapist.

4. Based on the intervention plan, selects and implements therapeutic interventions to enhance student performance in the areas of movement, safety, and social participation under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

5. Based on the intervention plan, modifies environment including equipment, materials, devices, and adapts processes.

6. Consults with other clinical or educational staff, the Physical Therapist, staff from other educational agencies providing services, and parents related to student needs, treatment, and progress.

7. Contributes information to multi-disciplinary team meetings communicating children's progress.

8. Collects, records, monitors, and interprets data on children's' progress. Continuously monitors through observation and consultation, student progress and the effect of intervention and the need for continuation, modification, or termination. Communicates this information to the supervising physical therapist.

9. Trains and provides on-going support to caregivers to implement physical therapy programs and intervention techniques that may be delegated, to include training on proper transitions for children for the safety of the staff member and the student.

10. Possible driving between schools to meet student needs.

11. Manages student behavior by utilizing intervention techniques designed by the clinical team.

12. Participates in planning and program development including Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Speech-Language Pathologist.

13. Fabricates and repairs motor equipment for individual patients or clinical use.

14. Maintains, organizes, and prioritizes workload and treatment environments, including inventories.

15. Records service delivery information necessary for the company to correctly invoice school districts. Documents physical therapy intervention services and maintains administrative records in accordance with state guidelines, company policy, and reimbursement standards.

16. Uses professional literature to make informed practice decisions.

Commitment/Availability:

  • PRN employees will be requested to work in advance due to scheduled vacation time; however, for unscheduled illness/time off, PRN employees may be called the morning of to be asked to work that day. 
  • The PRN employee MUST work one shift (no minimum hours) every calendar month.
