The Lending Associate (LA) role is part of a newly formed sub-team within Wealth Credit Services (WCS) – SBL Sales & Product.  The role supports Advisor, Banker, and Client-facing teams for Wealth Credit Services’ Securities Based Lending (SBL) product primarily focused on Citizens Private Wealth (CPW) and Citizens Private Bank (PB).   This growing team will provide CPW and PB SBL sales support application processes across multiple business lines.  Investment Team acquisition opportunities (“lift-outs”) and related activities will be a critical focus for this group as Wealth Management looks to ensure smooth transitions for this important strategy. 

Specifically, the position will help coordinate SBL loan originations for the new Wealth Manager teams joining CPW.  The LA will work with the Advisor, Transition Associate, and client to transition SBLs from other institutions as well as help develop strategies to deepen the loan book.  opportunities. The LA will ensure completeness/accuracy of application packages prior to submission to WCS Operations and Underwriting.

The position also works closely with the broader Wealth Credit Services Leadership team and reports to the Securities Based Lending Product Platform Manager, who leads the product strategy for CPW and PB. Additionally, the role will be expected to learn all relevant downstream processes and best practices related to SBL originations and work closely with WCS Operations and Underwriting on building efficiencies and best practices for SBL originations.

Responsibilities

Lift-Out (SBL transition) Management

  • Assist general team and efforts to help coordinate advisor lift-outs
  • Review high-level SBL portfolio data prior to advisor team arrival 
  • Set expectations with new advisor team and review SBL processes upon arrival
  • Support team training and SBL product awareness for new joiners
  • Critical contact for new Advisor team and clients transitioning to Citizens
  • Answer questions about the SBL product and the origination process
  • Once commitment to move to Citizens is secured, work with Advisor and client to take SBL application, and compile all required data and documents
  • Build strong partnership with new advisors, transition team, broader private wealth group, the private bank, and internal partners within WCS.

Advisor Training and Education

  • Ensure Lift Out teams have deep understanding of the SBL product and highlight any differences between CFG polices/process to Advisors previous employers.
  • Develop job aids for quick analysis of any issues relative to the transition process, such as base rate differentials, loan to value differences, etc. 
  • Work with lift out teams post close to identify knowledge gaps with both clients and advisors to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Operational Effectiveness

  • Identify any disconnects in Lift out book of business, propose solutions and work with lift out transition team for resolution. 
  • Aid in book of business pricing analysis and collateral analysis to ensure quick identification and escalation of 
  • Obtain any trust-related documents required and work with legal and underwriting partners to ensure appropriate loan structure.
  • Critical team member to developing new capabilities to take on all back-end operational elements on SBLs as a client facing team (for direct client engagement on advances, paydowns, client servicing, etc.)

Experience

Minimum Required: 

  • 5 years experience in: commercial/consumer lending and operations (preferably Private Bank-type experience); understanding and applying credit policy, credit monitoring and risk administration practices. 

Preferred:

  • Private Banking experience as well as background in Securities Based Lending

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: M-F

Pay Transparency 

The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $100,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
