Job Description

We are seeking a housekeeping associate to work at the limited-service Motel 6 Mankato. Housekeepers are responsible for providing exceptionally clean rooms and require the ability to meet standards, be reliable, and have high attention to detail. This is a fast-paced physical job; manual labor is a requirement. An ability to attend to the property with integrity and a willingness to go above and beyond is essential. For this position, we are looking for someone ready to move up into the Assistant Head of Housekeeping position. Housekeeping associate begins their shifts at 9 am or 10 am depending on the time of year. The lengths of the shifts are determined by motel occupancy and therefore vary in length but are typically 6 hours long (1pm – 5pm ending time). This is a part-time position with the potential to reach 30 hours per week. This requires someone who can print off housekeeping reports, assign rooms, inspect rooms, direct staff and lead the housekeeping team once you have been trained.

Minimum Availability:

  • Must be available for at least 3 shifts per week
  • Shifts begin at 9am and end when rooms are completed (approx. 6hrs). During our off-season period shifts start at 10am.
  • Must be available to work at least every other weekend (two-three weekends each month).

Responsibilities Include:

  • Communicate daily with the Executive Housekeeper (EH) regarding daily expectations and tasks.
  • Using cleaning products to company regulations and avoid wasting product.
  • Notifying the EH when there are damages, missing items, or other discrepancies.
  • Notifying the EH or front desk immediately when finding forgotten property in a room
  • Providing privacy and security by entering rooms only when permitted and reporting any potential security or illegal breaches on property.
  • Providing cleaning, fresh towels, and linens for stay-over guests.
  • Providing quality cleanliness in a time-efficient manner
  • Cleaning checked-out rooms including removal of dirty linen, terry, garbage.
  • Ensuring clean floors, corner to corner, in rooms and bathrooms
  • Make sure walls and doors are free of splatters, handprints, and other dirty substances.
  • Notifying the EH of any additional cleaning needs
  • Make sure the room smells good or neutral.
  • Covering for the Head of Housekeeping on her days off print out housekeeping reports, assigning rooms, inspecting rooms, directing staff, communicating with front desk staff and lead the housekeeping team.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with policies, procedures, and equipment regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of room details and location of items in rooms
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English and understand guest’s needs.
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceedingly organized and efficient with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Maintain steadfast trustworthiness around guest property and information.
  • Must have an excellent sense of vision and smell.
  • Must be able to constantly stand, sit, push, pull, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as well as talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to see differences in widths and lengths of lines.
  • Prefer previous housekeeping or other cleaning experience.

Work Environment:

  • General hospitality environment
  • This position will primarily work inside an environmentally controlled workspace.
  • Will work primarily in vacant or guest-occupied rooms.
  • May work in any area of the establishment.

Pay Rate: $16.00 - $20.00 starting based on experience.
