What we are looking for:

The Infant Mental Health Specialist is part of a team that serves those who are pregnant and their children through age 6 who are at risk for the development of emotional disturbance due to risk factors associated with socioeconomic status, education, intelligence, and illness in the parent or child. They provide intensive services to families, parents, and children who have multiple services needs and access to an array of mental health services and supports.

Please note: As a community-based role, this position will render at least 80% of services in the beneficiary's home or other agreed-upon community-based location.

Compensation Range:
The starting pay for this position is $47,600 - $56,000 for limited licensed candidates, and $51,850 - $61,000 annual salary for fully licensed candidates and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.

  • Provide thorough and complete assessment, at intake and annually, to assess the client’s history and identify treatment needs.
  • Responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and recording client progress with respect to treatment goals. Modify person-centered plans according to change in client status.
  • Makes contact with assigned clients in the community at least twice weekly, or in accordance with IPOS, to ensure level of care is adequate to the needs of the client.
  • Develops a person-centered plan with each assigned client to identify needs and interventions to meet those needs and reviews plan at stated levels.
  • Provides treatment modalities to clients and families as indicated in the treatment plan to provide therapeutic interventions.
  • Provides basic coordination of services for each assigned client as needed or required by the treatment plan to coordinate treatment services.
  • Will complete the appropriate assessment and functional tools as required within IMH (ASQ, DECA, PECFAS, DC 0-3, etc.).
  • Provide crisis intervention when needed. Completion of lethality assessment as indicated.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of treatment provided to assigned clients and their families to assure a quality record, per the Agency’s policy and procedures.
  • Required to meet productivity standards for program and maintain a utilization review score of 85% or higher.
  • Maintain and updates clinical knowledge by readings, in-service training in designated areas and other activities in consultation with clinical supervisor. Complete at least 24 hours of in-service training to maintain CMHP credentials.
  • Writes clear, concise reports and the ability to formulate and implement an effective treatment plan.
 Qualifications:
Required
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy
  • State licensure: Limited-Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LLMSW), Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW), Limited-Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LLMFT), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Temporary Limited-License Psychologist (TLLP), OR Limited-Licensed Psychologist (LLP)
  • Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License
  • Reliable transportation and current proof of auto insurance
  • Two years clinical experience in individual and group psychotherapy using cognitive behavioral techniques under clinical supervision.
  • Prior experience working with all age groups including children; solution focused brief therapy; substance abuse and co-occurring disorders treatment; stages of change and/or motivational interviewing.
  • Basic knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy.
  • Understanding of substance use and co-occurring disorders treatment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously
  • Ability to use discretion and judgment when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Advanced time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, collaboration, crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to be forward thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the department
  • Intermediate level experience with computers and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to understand and value cultural and ethnic differences, their alternatives perspectives,
    lifestyles, etc.
Preferred
  • At least three (3) years of experience
