Job Description
Job Title: Catering Manager
Sector: Chartwells Higher Education
Reports To: Director, Manager, Chef, or Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:
 Train staff in service techniques, menu presentation and customer service.
 Track and monitor the labor and food cost for each event.
 Maintain excellent client relationships.
 Work with the Executive Chef in creating menus.
 Strong leadership and communication skills.
 Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Catering FOH team.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and
differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple
sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and
weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or
diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Career level (Manager/Director), areas of interest Foodservice –
Education, AA degree/2 Year College preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must meet state and local health requirements
for food handlers. Must possess a valid Food Handler's Permit.
