Salary:

JOB TITLE:  Cook/Dietary Aide                                                     DEPARTMENT:  Food Service

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS

 

Responsible to:                                Director of Food Service

Responsible for:                               Does not supervise other employees

Interrelationships:                            Works cooperatively with all hospital departments

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Prepares, seasons and cooks food for hospital patients, employees and visitors.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 

Experience:                Sufficient previous experience in large scale food preparation

 

Education:                  High School or equivalent preferred

 

 

JOB DUTIES  (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

 

  1. Previews menus and work orders to determine type and quantities of foods to be prepared.

 

  1. Plans and coordinates cooking schedules so that foods will be ready at required times.

 

  1. Prepares, seasons and cooks food.

 

  1. Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes.

 

  1. Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slicers, mixers and blenders.

 

  1. Ensures that all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance.

 

  1. Ensures that all sanitary levels are maintained throughout the food preparation process.

 

  1. Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.  Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment or other unusual conditions.

 

  1. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

 

  1. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.

 

  1. Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.

 

  1. Attends meetings as required.
