Coeur Alaska, a subsidiary of Coeur Mining Inc. based 45 miles northwest of Juneau, Alaska is seeking a Mill Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at the Kensington Mine. Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor, the position will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Trouble-Shoot, diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machinery at the Mill
  • Follow maintenance priorities and interact with operational personnel to coordinate maintenance activities with production requirements.
  • Pro-actively assess, monitor and recommend modifications to increase safety, environmental, and health aspects of the mill.
  • Pro-actively assess, monitor and recommend modifications to increase gold recovery efficiency, plant availability and decrease operational costs.
  • Maintain records of the mill maintenance department including safety meetings, attendance, vacations, scheduling, and accidents.
  • Intermediate welding and fabrication.
  • Jaw Crusher, Cone Crusher and components of their operation, Conveyor circuits repairing and replacing, Ball Mill, Process Pumps and piping circuits, and Water Treatment Plant maintenance.
  • Responsible for pre-shift inspection of work areas and equipment and responds appropriate.
  • Employees must comply with all company policies including, but not limited to attendance, safety, environmental, and HR policies. Employees are responsible for understanding and complying with the Environment, Health, Safety and Social Responsibility Policy.
  • Employees must protect the environment and their own safety, as well as those around them.


Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

  • Ability to work safe and promote safe behavior in others.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification/Degree in Heavy Equipment Mechanical Maintenance for a vocational tech school prefer or equivalent work history.
  • 1-3 years of maintenance experience
  • Have own tools
  • Excellent analytical, technical, communication, and problem solving skills are a must
  • Sets high standards for self and others, builds trust, and takes accountability
  • Preference given to Alaskan residents.

Employees may be frequently exposed to underground work environments; outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is usually very loud. This position may require work on nights, weekends and rotating shifts; shift schedules may require residency in on-island camp during work rotations.
