As a Bakery Team Member at NOTHING BUNDT CAKES SAN JOSE-WILLOW GLEN, you play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our bakery by assisting with various tasks related to the production and sale of our delicious cakes. You will sweeten up the place and set the mood to make a stop in our bakery an event worth posting about! Working closely with other team members, you will contribute to creating a welcoming environment for our customers while upholding the highest standards of quality and service.You'll get to play part-time party planner by assisting our guests in ordering the right bundt cake for their celebrations and ensuring their order goes off without a hitch! Your responsibilities will include preparing and baking our menu, frosting cakes, crafting cakes, washing dishes, maintaining cleanliness of the bakery, and providing excellent customer service. | Job Duties and Responsibilities Warmly welcome walk-in and phone guests with genuine enthusiasm, promptly assisting them to understand their interests and needs, and follow NbC Sweet Steps of Service to ensure an exceptional guest experience. Maintain product knowledge about cake sizes, flavors, pricing, promotions and retail merchandise. Processes guest orders accurately utilizing point-of-sale system and invites guests to join NbC Email Club. Uphold a clean and organized bakery utilizing the cleaning checklists. Replenish retail merchandise and cake display case to ensure a strong visual presentation. Assemble cake orders according to guest specifications and follow NbC cake decorating and presentation standards with precision. Prepare cake decorations, boxes, bows, bags, and other packaging materials in advance to ensure supplies are readily available. Follows NbC proprietary frosting recipe and application methods with precision and achieves productivity goals. Effectively utilizes measuring instruments, commercial-grade or handheld mixer and pastry bag to frost cakes. Adheres to the proper packaging, labeling and storage of frosted cakes as well as product rotation standards, and maintains frosting and refrigeration logs. Performs routine cleaning of windows, shelves, counters, refrigerator, cooler and bathroom.
| Gathers and removes garbage, sweeps and mops floors, and cleans floor drains. Manually washes, rinses and sanitizes all baking pans, dishes, utensils and other tools in a thorough and timely manner and adheres to all NbC standards. Assist in receiving and storing weekly deliveries from Shipp, Sysco, paper goods, and other suppliers. Assists baker with daily baking and production Effectively utilizes measuring instruments, commercial-grade mixers and ovens, and other tools to bake cakes. Monitor inventory levels of supplies and notify management when restocking is necessary. Maintain a consistent work attendance and punctuality record. Follows all health and safety guidelines, as well as policies and procedures, including adhering strictly to the dress code and maintaining personal hygiene.
| Performance Expectations and Benchmark Meet position time standards for frosting, crafting and/or baking. Meet frosting standards and ensure frosting consistency is uniform. Ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment of customer orders, including custom or special requests. Attaining a high level of customer satisfaction, measured through surveys, reviews, or repeat business. Contributing positively to team dynamics, communication, and cooperation among bakery staff. Conduct oneself with professionalism and integrity, representing the bakery positively in interactions with customers, colleagues, and management.
| Qualifications and Skills Age: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is often preferred. Attention to Detail: Attention to detail is needed when following recipes, reading tickets, and decorating cakes. Basic Math Skills: Necessary for measuring ingredients, taking inventory, and cash handling. Time Management: The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work quickly and efficiently, especially during busy periods or when multiple orders need to be fulfilled simultaneously. Communication Skills: Effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, and customers is essential for ensuring smooth operations and meeting customer needs. Teamwork: Collaboration and the ability to work well as part of a team are important in a bakery setting. Technology: Comfortable with new technology and has the ability to operate a point-of-sale system
| Physical Requirements & Work Environment Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. The role involves prolonged periods of standing, lifting heavy boxes, bags and ingredients, bending, stooping, reaching, and repetitive movements. Temperature Variations: The role involves exposure to cold temperatures due to refrigeration units. Handling Equipment: Employees may need to operate bakery equipment such as mixer, oven and refrigerators. Fast-Paced Environment: The ability to work efficiently under pressure and multitask will be required. Cleanliness and Sanitation: Employees will be expected to clean work areas, equipment, and utensils regularly. Teamwork: Employees should be able to work effectively as part of a team. Customer Interaction: Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor is necessary.
| Work Availability: Employee must demonstrate the flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by changing business demands. The bakery industry often experiences fluctuating levels of activity, with peak periods during weekends, holidays, and special occasions. Therefore, availability during these times is essential to ensure adequate coverage and meet customer needs. Employees should be willing to adjust their schedules as needed to accommodate the bakery's operational requirements and provide reliable support to the team. Sundays are a must.
