Janitor/Porter - Union

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for keeping the warehouse area clean and is a manual-handling job. As such, a moderate amount of strength and endurance is required of the individual to safely and successfully perform in this position. The weight of the products handled cause the strength demand. The strength requirements are based on the range of heights at which products are handled and the weight of those products. The amount of endurance required to perform in this position is equivalent to walking (on concrete) for approximately 8 hours per shift.

$18 per hour

EARN UP TO AN ADDITIONAL $1.00/HR YOUR FIRST WEEK, INCREASES TO AN ADDITIONAL $2/HR AFTER 4 WEEKS, AND AN ADDITIONAL $4/HR AFTER 8 WEEKS!

Essential Functions:

·Lift and carry warehouse products packaged in bulk or in broken cases that will weigh between 30 lbs. and 60 lbs. on a daily basis.

· Pick up trash, sweep and mop floors, and run the trash compactor.

· Operate, while seated, a motorized scrubber and sweeper.

· Operate, while standing, a motorized pallet jack and buffing machine.

· Work in temperatures that can range from –10 to 90+ degrees.

· Must be able to work 2nd / 3rd shift and weekends

· Work safely. Report hazards to shift supervisor

· Comply with OSHA standards

· Comply with Company safety procedures in the workplace

· Follow attendance policy, show up for work on time and ready to work assigned shift

· Perform other duties as assigned, may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed

Additional Duties:

· Sanitation will be required to perform the following specific tasks: product slot maintenance; clean spills (including biohazard); cobweb removal; cleaning of bathrooms, break rooms, smoking area, floor drains and under dock plates; stripping and waxing tile floors; recondition damaged products; bale plastic and cardboard; equipment maintenance; and restock cleaning supplies.

· There may be instances that occur from time to time that require Sanitation to perform duties not described within this description. As a result, this description attempts to address the typical duties performed but in no way serves as a complete listing of all the requirements of the Sanitation position.

Qualifications & Experience:

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, or at least one year related work experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Ability to solve routine problems

· Ability to understand and follow all safety rules, procedure manuals, and diagrams

· Knowledge of cleaning equipment

· Knowledge of safe use of cleaning chemicals

· Strong communication skills

· Knowledge of cleaning procedures and janitorial techniques

· Ability to work independently

· May work overtime to complete work, as directed and authorized by management

Physical Requirements:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the associate is frequently required to use hands to handle objects; talk or hear; stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The associate is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell. The associate is frequently exposed to extreme cold. The noise level in the warehouse is usually moderate.
