Caregiver

Description: This position provides custodial and personal care services to clients that contract with Assisting Hands for services under the direction of the Staffing Coordinator in compliance with the Plan of Care.

Education: High School Diploma/GED required

Qualifications: One (1) year experience in the home or long-term care setting is preferred.

Reports to: Staffing Coordinator

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Creating a Nurturing Environment:

Ensure a pristine, secure, and health-focused ambiance within the client's residence.
Perform light cleaning and organization in areas such as bathrooms, sleeping quarters, and living spaces.
Attend to tasks related to the client's laundry and dishes.

Personal Care Activities:

Execute all personal care activities outlined in the written Plan of Care.
Assist with personal hygiene, ambulation, exercise, eating, dressing, shaving, physical transfers, and other assigned duties.

Nutritional Support:

Provide necessary nutritional support tailored to the client's needs.

Monitoring and Reporting:

Promptly report any changes in the client's condition.

Specialized Assistance:

Aid in the use of daily living aids (e.g., wheelchair, walker, hoyer lift).
Conduct prescribed range of motion exercises.
Educate family members on household routines and skills.
Monitor intake and output of fluids.
Record vital signs and other health-related activities.

Medication Assistance:

Support the client in self-administration of medication.
Handle medication containers according to guidelines.
Maintain records of medication assistance activities.

Additional Medication Support:

Prepare necessary items for medication administration (e.g., juice, water, cups, spoons).
Open and close medication containers or tear foil on prepackaged medications.
Assist clients in the self-administration process.

Infection Control and Compliance:

Adhere to the agency's infection control policies, including proper hand washing techniques per CDC Guidelines.
Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the agencys Policy and Procedure Manual, Caregiver Handbook, and Caregiver Training Manual.

Work Schedule:

Hours are dependent on assignment.
Shifts available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week based on availability. (Note: Assisting Hands does not guarantee hours.)
