The CPP Specialist provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-ready technical and basic skills (academic) training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.

Summary of Duties:

The Career Preparation Period Specialist (CPP) provides instruction during the Career Preparation Phase of enrollment. Assists students in becoming acclimated to the Job Corps Program and the Center. Works with the team members to assist students in gaining employability skills.

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Develops effective student educational experiences that engage and stimulate student learning.
  • Adequately prepares for instruction. Integrates math, reading, and writing concepts with employability,.
  • Has an accurate syllabus for the course and completes lesson plans as required.
  • Creates and maintains training records for each subject area.
  • Conducts classes that explain test preparation and study skills.
  • Conducts assessments to determine areas of strength and difficulty, using this information to prescribes individual plans.
  • Designs instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Meets with academic and career technical training instructors to identify required skills that can be taught and reinforced with applying technical skills in an academic setting and in technical instruction.
  • Identifies students personal and academic issues so that the appropriate support can be provided

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency. Must possess computer proficiency and excellent communication skills.
