Position Snapshot: The Employment Specialist assists persons with disabilities in achieving their employment goals and the greatest level of independence by providing education, advocacy, and job coaching; by identifying, accessing, and/or advocating for employment support.
Essential Functions:
- Provide guidance and assistance to persons with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining employment.
- Establish positive relationships with employers and the community to promote the hiring of persons with disabilities to employers.
- Assess knowledge, skills, and ability of supported employment consumers, and determine appropriate technique/method for demonstrating a variety of tasks.
- Assist persons with disabilities and their families in identifying and accessing local, state, and federal services and supports.
- Advocate with, or on behalf of consumers as needed, to ensure equal access to community resources, and compliance with the ADA and Olmstead Act.
- Compile and maintain various information and resources for use by advocates, individuals seeking assistance, community partner, and service providers.
- Travel to and from various job sites.
Candidate Requirements need to include:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; and, a minimum of two years experience in providing vocational services to individuals with disabilities or other significant barriers to employment.
- Valid driver's license.
