SUMMARY: Primary responsibility is to assist the Food & Beverage Manager in all facets of the operation, in alignment with the goals and objectives of the Food & Beverage Division, and in full accordance with all operational and regulatory policies and procedures of Gold Country Casino & Resort. The Assistant Manager is empowered to make discretionary decisions regarding F&B functions and personnel development and will work together with the Manager to provide a seamless guest experience, while also maximizing profitability.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES ASSIGNED:

  • Support Manager with execution of sales goals related to food and labor costs
  • Support Manager in Administrative duties, including scheduling, daily reports, menu analysis, cost analysis, and inventory management.
  • Assist with managing every aspect of the venue’s ambience and energy
  • Provide exemplary leadership in a fast-paced environment
  • Display excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on listening and questioning
  • Support Manager and Supervisor Team in creating a culture focused on team member engagement, development & retention.
  • Exhibit skill & care when selecting, onboarding and coaching team members
  • Directly accountable for building, training, and developing strong Supervisors, aligned with the F&B Mission Statement and core leadership values
  • Assist Manager in monitoring quality assurance initiatives to ensure sustainability
  • Interact with kitchen as a liaison between Front and Back of the house operations
  • Responsible for all subordinate performance reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Lead and exercise sound judgment if the Manager is unavailable
  • Accountable to Management & Team for successful execution of daily operations
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Applicant must obtain training on food safety and responsible beverage service of the Casino’s choosing. Must pass initial drug screening, background investigation, random drug tests and credit check.

  • Strong leadership and successful supervision of F&B service operations
  • Demonstrates a strong spirit of genuine hospitality; willingness to do whatever it takes to ensure a warm, lasting, and positive guest experience.
  • Working knowledge of financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and reporting
  • Skilled in effective training and development techniques and initiatives
  • Ability to differentiate between “process” and “personality” management and execute both at a high level.
  • Excellent communicator; strong command of verbal and written communications
  • Sound Critical Thinking skills: ability to analyze facts and data, weigh options and use sound judgement in executing solutions that are in the best interest of the operation and GCCR at large.
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical business conduct.
  • Ability to perform all supervised positions at an “Expert” level

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of two years restaurant and/or bar experience supervising a team. Basic, but effective skills in leadership and supervision of food and beverage service operations. Intermediate working knowledge of administrative functions, including scheduling, ordering and daily reporting. Experience in Casino operations and/or gaming industry preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and response to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public effectively and courteously.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Must have the ability to deal with problems, which may involve several concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member must be able to communicate effectively. The individual is also regularly required to bend; stand; walk; sit; and use hand/eye coordination.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. When on the Casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. The Casino is a smoking environment, and the team member must be able to work in a smoke-filled atmosphere. The kitchen area can be warm and humid. Must be able to work in limited space.
