Job Description

Instrumentation and Control System Reliability Manager

Reliability Program Manager oversees the development and execution of reliability programs for I&E systems, including reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance, and asset performance management.

Roles:

  • Reliability Analysis: Perform comprehensive reliability analyses on instrumentation and control systems to identify failure modes, assess risks, and develop strategies for improving system reliability and availability.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the reliability, availability, and maintainability of instrumentation and control (I&E) systems across the organization.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of reliability engineers, technicians, and analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and support to drive reliability improvement efforts and achieve departmental goals.
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA): Lead FMEA activities to identify potential failure modes of instrumentation and control systems, evaluate their effects on operations, and prioritize mitigation actions.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Conduct thorough RCA investigations for equipment failures, identifying underlying causes and contributing factors to develop effective corrective and preventive measures.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Optimization: Collaborate with maintenance teams to optimize maintenance strategies for instrumentation and control systems, including predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance approaches.
  • Asset Performance Management: Implement asset performance management programs to monitor the health and performance of instrumentation assets, analyzing data to optimize asset utilization and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM): Apply RCM principles to prioritize maintenance tasks based on criticality and risk, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to maximize system reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze reliability data, including MTBF, MTTR, and equipment failure rates, to identify trends, performance issues, and improvement opportunities, and prepare reports for management review.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the performance of I&E systems, analyzing data to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Budget Planning: Develop and manage the departmental budget for reliability initiatives, allocating resources effectively to support maintenance activities, equipment upgrades, and technology investments.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to procure reliable components, spare parts, and services for I&E systems, ensuring quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability, availability, and maintainability of instrumentation and control systems through process optimization, technology upgrades, and best practices implementation.
  • Supplier and Vendor Management: Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality and reliability of components and systems procured for instrumentation and control applications, including evaluation of vendor reliability data and performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to instrumentation and control system reliability, ensuring compliance and adherence to safety and quality requirements.
