$111,400.00 - $172,700.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

This Senior Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting the Compliance Officer & Manager with the development, implementation and maintenance of the Credit Union's Compliance Management System, and is a subject matter expert to the Credit Union on compliance-related matters, with an emphasis on real estate and consumer lending. This position provides day-to-day compliance support, disseminates information on internal compliance requirements, laws, regulations, and best practices for all areas of the Credit Union, including but not limited to, deposit operations, real estate, consumer lending, loan servicing, default management, marketing and advertising. Extensive compliance experience and knowledge is required for this position.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Maintains a thorough knowledge of banking regulations including but not limited to, TRID, RESPA, HMDA, TILA, ECOA, TISA, NCUA Rules and Regulations and other laws and regulations which apply to credit unions. An understanding of the regulatory process of credit unions/financial institutions is also required.

Manages ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed and final changes to laws, rules and regulations. Determines applicability of proposed and final rule changes to the credit union and coordinates with appropriate personnel to ensure operational changes are made to ensure compliance.

Independently researches and provides written responses to inquiries of a regulatory nature, including: supporting analysis, conclusions, and recommendations after comprehensive investigation and research. Provides high levels of service to internal stakeholders, responding to inquires in an expeditious manner.

Develops oral and/or written presentations to present to management. Expresses opinions, discusses complex legal and regulatory requirements in layman's terms, and provides recommendations and guidance to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements both during the implementation of new requirements and with existing requirements.

Performs regular/ongoing assessments, including detailed transaction testing and complaint follow up, to evaluate the Credit Union's adherence to compliance regulations and internal policies and procedures.

Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness, and follows up with appropriate areas to ensure required changes are implemented within prescribed timeframes.

Assists in the development and maintenance of the compliance training program and facilitates compliance training.

Reviews marketing campaigns, disclosures and new products and services.

Performs other compliance and risk management related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

7 to 10 years of experience in credit union or retail banking financial services.

Minimum 5 years of compliance experience within the credit union or banking financial industry.

Expert knowledge of federal and state consumer protection and regulatory compliance requirements.

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

CRCM, CUCE, NCCO or equivalent is highly desirable.

Broad knowledge of, and practical experience with, credit union or other financial institution operating areas, functions, products and services.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to conduct thorough research, interpret and understand laws and regulations, and provide workable recommendations and solutions to compliance issues.

Ability to recognize potential compliance issues in other areas of operations; has an inter-departmental mindset of compliance risk.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Effective interpersonal skills in order to maintain positive and productive working relationships with all Wescom departments.

The ability to organize and conduct meetings with peers, superiors, and subordinates.

Must be able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members or regulatory agencies.

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Possess strong research, investigative, and analysis skills.

Participatesinin-housetraining,self-studies,participates in outside seminars, conferences and classes and participates in professional associations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be proficient in technology applications including the Credit Union's operating system and specialized software required for performance of position.

Prior experience with Symitar and related systems is highly desirable.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
