Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a experienced leader to join our team as a Data Engineering Manager on our Global IT team.

As a Data Engineering Manager, you will be a key member of the Global Analytics and BI team, reporting directly to the Global Director of Software, Analytics, and BI. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Global Data team, which is tasked with handling Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence (BI), and Analytics projects. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of data engineering initiatives, driving data-driven decision-making across the organization, and promoting a culture of excellence within the team.

The Data Engineering Manager will play a vital role in driving data-driven insights and supporting the organization's strategic decision-making processes. Your expertise in managing the Global Data team and overseeing Data Warehouse, BI, and Analytics projects will be instrumental in achieving data excellence and advancing the organization's overall data strategy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data engineers, data architects, and BI developers.
  • Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular performance evaluations for team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging continuous learning and professional growth.

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including the Global Director of Software, Analytics, and BI, to understand business requirements and translate them into data engineering initiatives.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, ensuring timely delivery of Data Warehouse, BI, and Analytics projects while adhering to quality standards.
  • Oversee project execution, manage resources effectively, and identify and resolve potential roadblocks to achieve project milestones.

Data Architecture and Design:

  • Define and maintain the overall data architecture strategy in alignment with business needs and industry best practices.
  • Ensure the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Establish data governance and data quality frameworks to maintain the integrity and accuracy of data.

Data Warehouse Management:

  • Manage and optimize the Data Warehouse infrastructure, ensuring its stability, security, and performance.
  • Implement best practices for data modeling, data integration, and data retention in the Data Warehouse.

Business Intelligence and Analytics:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their reporting and analytics needs.
  • Oversee the development of interactive dashboards, data visualizations, and analytical tools to empower data-driven decision-making.
  • Promote the use of self-service BI tools and capabilities among business users.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Monitor and analyze data engineering processes and system performance, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Implement strategies to enhance data processing efficiency and reduce latency in data pipelines.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Regularly communicate project status, data engineering insights, and performance metrics to the Global Director of Software, Analytics, and BI and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data engineering initiatives align with organizational objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors' degree required, Masters' degree preferred, in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing data engineering teams and delivering complex Data Warehouse, BI, and Analytics projects.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, data integration, and ETL processes.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, or Java.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
