JOB SUMMARY

Family Healthcare Associates (now a part of Catalyst Health Group) is seeking a Certified Phlebotomist. Under general supervision, performs various patient care duties and laboratory procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Work as a team with other Lab technicians to ensure patients are processed in a timely manner and according to the organization's protocol and procedures. This would include verification of patient's identity and ensuring all orders are placed in the EMR/EHR systems before the procedure begins.
  • Ensure a high degree of customer service is practiced with each patient.
  • Assists patient in dressing for exam and attends to patient's physical wellbeing during the exam and procedure process.
  • Complete blood draws as efficiently as possible. Collects specimens in the proper container based on test that was ordered.
  • May educate patient and family regarding the plan of treatment or procedure.
  • Obtain lab samples and completely fill out lab slips and other forms, when necessary
  • Follow universal precautions to protect self and patients
  • Stock procedure rooms with supplies
  • Takes responsibility of medical equipment cleaning, quality control and sterilization in accordance with OSHA guidelines
  • May assist in the lab by performing blood draws
  • Ability to relate to the public regardless of racial, ethnic and economic status
  • Promotes and believes in providing quality healthcare services and education to the community in a convenient and compassionate manner.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Follows organization and OSHA safety rules and procedures
  • Upholds HIPAA/PHI regulations
  • Punctual and dependent for assigned shifts
  • Sitting, standing, walking and/or moving up to 8 hours per day
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills
  • 1+ years' experience in a healthcare environment preferred
