Reports to: Camp Director Cabin Life

Status: Summer 2024, Seasonal

Stipend: $6,000/Season

Prior to applying to Camp Korey Seasonal Summer Staff please be ready to commit to:

  1. Providing the safest camp environment possible, 2024 Camp Korey Seasonal Staff will be required to practice intentional COVID safety and consciousness for the entirety of their summer contract. All staff will be required to be vaccinated, tested weekly, and practice safe masking and hygiene protocols. Camp Korey is committed to doing whatever we can to provide the safest camp environment possible for campers, families, staff, and volunteers.
  2. Frequent health screenings and following all safety protocols while on Camp Korey property. Masks may be a requirement.

 

Position Summary:
The Seasonal Cabin Life Coordinator is responsible for the support of all Cabin Life staff during summer. The Seasonal Cabin Life Coordinator acts in conjunction with the Camp Director Cabin Life as supervisor to the cabin staff, is the first line of behavioral support for campers who present with challenging behaviors, and is a member of the leadership team for all on-camp programming. In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Cabin Life Coordinator will always model and transmit the Camp culture of Safety, Respect, and Love.

 

REQUIREMENTS for Employment- General

  • Minimum 1 summer of camp leadership experience
  • 21 years or older
  • Ensure all cabin life experience is delivered in line with the mission, vision, and values of Camp Korey
  • Have the physical and mental capability of caring for Camp Korey’s unique demographic of campers
  • Commit to the entire length of the summer June 12 to August 23, 2024
  • Act in a professional manner as a role model for all campers, volunteers, and fellow staff
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and team building skills
  • Be fully aware of all safety and emergency procedures, and execute procedures when needed
  • Integrate and support volunteers at camp and provide them with training and support as needed
  • Provide behavior support to campers, including regular and positive feedback, celebration, and awareness of campers' individual psychosocial needs
  • Previous experience or education in behavior support
  • Commitment to punctuality and a willingness to work within a flexible environment and work schedule
  • Act in a professional manner as a role model for all campers, volunteers and fellow staff
  • Must practice strong, positive collaboration, communication, and team-building skills
  • Attend and participate in orientation trainings as requested
  • Maintain camper and colleague confidentiality at all times
  • Must practice COVID safety for the duration of the summer````
  • Must pass a thorough background check
  • Must be free of any communicable illness and have current immunizations/vaccines including COVID
  • Current CPR/AED certification required or willingness to get certified

 

RESPONSIBILITIES- Specific

  • Assist Camp Director Cabin Life in supporting the cabin life team during summer programs
  • Assist Camp Director Cabin Life in providing behavioral support for campers.
  • Directly supervise the Child Life Specialist
  • Provide additional behavior support for campers with higher psychosocial needs as a member of Camp Korey’s Behavioral Support Team
  • Check-in with camper parents during arrival to identify any psychosocial and cabin life considerations for each camper.
  • Identify additional areas for growth in Camp Korey’s cabin life experience in line with supporting our campers and their families.
  • Directly identify opportunities for collaboration between the cabin life and activities team
  • Assist with all emergency procedures
  • Collaborate with the Child Life Specialist in the ongoing development of psychosocial resources at camp
  • Provide ongoing feedback to cabin staff regarding camper behavior support.
  • Provide behavioral support training for volunteers as needed.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the policies and procedures contained within the Camp
  • Assist in the planning and facilitation of staff orientation
  • Coordinate staff care and support programs
  • Assist the Co-Camp Director's in ensuring the cabins are prepared for summer programs
  • Participate in ongoing feedback and development of camp safety procedures
  • Oversee and manage the distribution and collection of camper reports from staff each session
  • Develop and implement additional psychosocial considerations to support campers
  • Assist in the review of campers psychosocial considerations
  • Assist in all opening and closing day procedures
  • Assist the Development Team in the collection of camper narratives and other promotional materials
  • Provide additional coverage and supervision of cabin staff
  • Assist with site and program preparation, including cleaning/resetting camp spaces, decorating, creating a child-friendly environment, coordinating special guests, etc.
  • Support all operational needs relevant to our population, their needs, abilities, and age.
  • Support Camp Korey activities to ensure they are strengths-based and universally accessible.
  • Support caregivers and provide opportunities for respite, growth, and support as needed
  • Actively participate in self-assessments, surveys, and evaluations throughout the summer.
  • Instruct staff and help maintain the cleanliness and safety of camp, including the dining hall, activity spaces, cabins, and storage areas.
  • Perform any other duties deemed necessary.
