Job Description

Title: Lead Bartender

Reports To: Beverage Manager or Director, Food & Beverage Director, & Assistant F&B Director

Supervises: Bartenders, Cocktail Servers, Bar Backs under the guidance of the Beverage Manager / Director.

General Purpose: The Lead Bartender assists, under the direction of the Beverage Manager / Director, in the curation, creation, and execution management of the Cocktail and Spirits program for the restaurant with a concentration on the Lounge area and team.

Specific Responsibilities:

Service + Team

  • Ensure total guest satisfaction and ensure the finest quality of food and beverage.
  • Provide the highest and most efficient level of food and beverage service expected by the guest.
    • Hold the lounge team to 21c service standards.
    • Constantly seek improvement in self, team, and what we deliver.
    • Engages with guests and teammates while on the floor to promote beverage program awareness and sales.
    • Cultivates a following of regulars.
    • Stays aware of market trends, i.e., economy, creative ideas, new product.
    • Creates a total awareness of in-house VIPs and reviews names with staff members during pre-service meetings.

  • FOH F&B (Events included) Staffing responsibilities.
    • Screens Lounge / Bar team applicants in the interview process in conjunction with the F&B Management team.
    • Provides approval / denial recommendations for restaurant Bar positions to the Beverage Manager / director, F&B + AF&B Directors.
    • Works with scheduling manager to ensure all bar team beverage training is scheduled and complete for new hires.
    • Assists in upholding property Alcohol policies within 21c, state, and municipality guidelines.
    • Assists with Tracking + ensuring teammate alcohol license compliancy (where applicable).
    • Works to keep teammate morale high.
    • Coach employees on ways to work efficiently with each other.
    • Constantly seeks improvement in self, staff, and 21c.
    • Enforces proper dress guidelines for all teammates.

  • Role of teacher, trainer, developer.
    • Train, train, and train team some more. Assists the Beverage Manager / Director with verbal and written quizzes on cocktails and spirits.
    • Assists the Beverage Manager / Director in the development, implementation, and maintenance of beverage training policies for Bar positions - both onboarding and continued education.
    • Responsible for ensuring the Bar/Lounge Team adheres to all beverage operational systems and assist in incorporating them into training systems.
    • Assists the Beverage Manager / Director to maintain steps of Beverage service protocols and Beverage standards of service in Bar / Lounge areas.
    • Assists the Beverage Manager to ensure all Beverage training, policies, systems, product + menu information are built and maintained within MISEbox for all teammates.



  • Beverage Procurement and Inventory responsibilities
    • Assists the Beverage Manager / Director on Alcoholic Beverage procurement and inventory management at the discretion of the Beverage Manager / Director.
    • Responsible for conducting Monthly inventories with the Beverage Manager / Director.
    • Works with the Beverage Manager / Director and 21c F&B Operations team to incorporate and maintain compliancy to all 21c and Ennismore brand partnerships.

Marketing

  • Works with F&B Management and Brand / Marketing Team to develop and provide content through various media channels regarding the Beverage Program.
  • Works with the F&B, Sales, and Marketing Leadership Teams to concept, curate, plan, and execute specialty Beverage and Culinary events.
  • Is current and comfortable with being on camera and in media interviews.

Operations & Admin

  • Assists the Beverage Manager / Director to curate, manage and maintain cocktail and spirits lists on all Restaurant beverage menus.
  • Assist the Beverage Manager / Director in the selection, inventory, and maintenance for Beverage glassware, tools, and equipment.
  • Available for all Manager and Bar Meetings as designated by the F&B Management Team.
  • Access to 21c property Network and Email. Stays on top of communication in a timely manner.
  • Access to Beverage Inventory System. Stays on top of maintenance as directed by the Beverage Manager / Director.
  • Access and Contributor to MiseBox (Teammate Training Software).

General

  • Reports to work on time and ready to work scheduled shift.
  • Maintains a positive, friendly attitude with teammates and guests.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly appearance of self and all F&B operations areas.
  • Assists/executes any and all tasks as assigned by the F&B Director and Assistant F&B Director.
  • Embraces new ideas and quickly adapts to rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Identifies and seeks solutions for problem areas.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of craft cocktails and spirits.
  • Competent with Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office and familiar with industry standard software.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for all things 21c.
  • Must pass a background check

Education/Formal Training:

  • Some college education.

Experience:

  • Two to four years in a high volume, high quality bar and/or restaurant operation.
  • Minimum one year as a bartender.
