Contract Bond Underwriter I, II, or III

**THIS POSITION IS COMMENSURATE WITH CURRENT LEVEL, i.e., IF YOU'RE AN BOND UW II, YOU'RE A CANDIDATE FOR ONLY THE BOND UW III POSITION. **

Essential Functions:

• Under close supervision, assists in analyzing and underwriting contract and commercial surety accounts
• Analyzes financial statements, work in progress reports, and overall credit worthiness
• Gains knowledge of bond terminology, forms and underwriting standards
• Attends agency visits with the bond staff to gain an understanding of the independent agency system.
• Develops proper file documentation in connection with underwriting actions

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance, or business, or equivalent relevant experience
• Experience in the insurance, banking, or construction industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong multitasking and organizational skills
• Good keyboarding skills, Internet and basic computer knowledge
• Good human relation skills, including written and verbal communication skills
• Occasional travel required; a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if traveling
