Job Description:

Home Depot is a large home improvement and construction materials supplier. They have a redistribution center in Winchester, VA. This center takes in goods from manufacturers and sorts them into the right trucks to be delivered to stores. This RDC services 97 stores between VA, MD, NJ, PA, and WV. They have 177 dock doors and move up to 700,000 carts per week. These warehouse workers could be asked to jump into any job at any time. The process starts with unloading arriving trucks. This unloader will be inside the trailer loading materials onto a conveyor that then carries the product out into the warehouse where it is scanned by computers on top of the conveyor system. The conveyor system sorts the product into the appropriate lines for each store requiring restock. The loader then takes the product off the conveyor system and reads the label to see which truck the product needs to be loaded into. The loader needs to build the trailers with little to no extra space and needs to pay attention to how weight is distributed inside the truck.
