ALTA IT Services is staffing a direct hire opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to support a federal end client.
Senior Network Engineer
Direct Hire
Merrifield, VA (Hybrid, 3x’s Week On-Site)
Pay: 100-130K Range
Must be USC
Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance
Duties and Responsibilities: Provide design and ongoing support of local area networks and wide area networks used in mail processing applications.
Plan, design, build, configure, test, document, and implement both a physical and logical network infrastructure.
Configure routers and switches, with appropriate network communications protocols, and their implementation via network hardware and software.
Provide Tier 3 help desk support for resolving complex network problems involving multiple applications and organizations.
Requirements: Familiarity with all layers of OSI model and network communication protocols and working knowledge of Cisco hardware.
At least 5 years hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switches and routers.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems involving networks and application systems.
Ability to create network architecture solutions for new applications based on user requirements.
Experience with SolarWinds products and Sniffer software.
Ability to create technical documentation such as statement of work, technical presentations, and after action support reports.
Help Desk experience at the Tier 3 level.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred but not required: Demonstrated knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating systems including basic administration, communications, and networking configurations.
Experience working in a virtualized environment.
Knowledge of network traffic load balancing concepts
Experience with either Windows or Linux based scripting languages. (PowerShell/VBS or Python/Perl/Ruby/Bash)
CCNA or better certification will be a plus.
Clearance Requirement: The candidate must be able to obtain a sensitive security clearance from USPS.
