Business Development Representative
Blue Island, IL
 
OVERVIEW:

  • The Business Development Representative is responsible for achieving sales goals and executing sales plans within an assigned sales territory and/or account.

 
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan and prioritize sales activities and customer/prospect contact towards achieving agreed business aims
  • Responsible for achieving sales targets
  • Provide knowledge and sales to our janitorial products, from supplies equipment
  • Determine supply, chemical and equipment needs of current and prospective customers
  • Perform onsite equipment and product demonstrations as well as training in product usage, practical applications and cleaning procedures
  • Integrate sales efforts with other organized marketing activities, (promotions, advertising, exhibitions, telemarketing, social media marketing etc.)
  • Responsible to create annual Marketing Plan and revise accordingly
  • Responsible for the development of business proposals and bids
  • Required to assist in the oral presentation of business proposals and bids as required
  • Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information
  • Should regularly attend client meetings, trade shows, networking events, conferences etc.
  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods, and relevant internal liaison, to optimize quality of service, business growth, and customer and satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as requested
  • Communicate a positive image of the company to the entire staff and customers.

 
ABILITY TO:

  • Collaborate and influence internal and external shareholders
  • Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Execute prospecting strategies for discovering and closing new accounts
  • Keep records of company contacts and sales calls
  • Provide accurate and timely reports for project tracking and reporting
  • Handle crisis management as situations occur
  • Work on call and in all emergency situations as needed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Manage details of multiple projects in an efficient and organized method
  • Apply safety procedures and principles on a daily basis and protect yourself and others from injury

 
KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Must have an excellent level of technical and selling knowledge in all areas
  • Gathering information for the industry and the company's competition
  • Proper and appropriate phone skills and handling customer complaints and issues
  • Industry software and Websites: Xactimate, Contractor Connection, PSA, Code Blue and other similar programs
  • Laws, rules and regulations that govern the areas of your job, the restoration industry including but not limited to your scope of work
  • Skyline ethics, image and goals and how they shall be reflected in the day-to-day job duties of you and your staff
  • All policies and procedures of Skyline, ability to apply and understand
  • OSHA safety regulations of the industry and provide an active role in monitoring the safety of yourself and other team members

 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from a four-year college or university or related work experience
  • Minimum three (3) years proven sales track record in commercial sales
  • Prior knowledge of Work loading Custodial Programs strongly preferred

 
LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid State driver's license

 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle and to visit various customers and meeting sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Tasks may require extended periods of time at a keyboard. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects, up to 50 pounds, necessary to perform job functions.
