JOB DESCRIPTION
NY Enrichment Group is seeking several reliable, self-motivated, independent, fun-loving, youth Drama & Theater Instructors to join our team. The Drama teacher will lead our after-school programming for school-age children and assist students in tapping into their imagination, potential, and creativity. Successful candidates will help students develop their literacy skills, public speaking skills, and leadership/teamwork and building their confidence through the art of acting. Instructors must be able to successfully adopt a creative, fun, and energetic learning approach while promoting and instilling values of respect and passion. The instructor must be enthusiastic and exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to the communities we serve, and demonstrate the ability to motivate, inspire, and educate.
Duties include:
- Leading drama and theater classes for 9th -12 the grade
- Creating drama and theater curriculum & lesson plans for each session.
- Facilitate classes that follow a social group work model
- Responsible for managing a classroom of 15-20 students
- Prep for classes: arriving 15 minutes to set up and prepare to start class on time.
- Clean up: must leave locations in condition found, or cleaner.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, and scholars.
- Follow up after classes with NYEG Director of Operations.
- Maintain a positive, healthy, safe, supportive and welcoming environment.
COVID vaccination REQUIRED.
Requirements:
- Candidate should be highly responsible, reliable, punctual, flexible, outspoken, honest, self-motivated, and work with integrity. This is an independent role, with little direct supervision.
- Candidate should be comfortable working with children, and comfortable working independently leading a class of students. Candidate should be a clear communicator, have a positive attitude, and be able to effectively manage a classroom.
- Relevant performance experience
Preferred but not necessary:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- At least 2 years of experience working with youth
- Teaching experience and classroom management skills
- A knowledge of, and willingness to teach drama & theater fundamentals
