The Director of Clinical Practice and CalTPA Coordinator: 

  • Oversees the process for placement of Student-Teachers and admission to the Intern Pathway Program
  • Develops coursework and teaches courses pertaining to Interns and Student-Teachers  
  • Teaches the TED (Teacher Education Development) courses
  • Provides training for the University Supervisors, Peer Support Providers, and Master Teachers
  • Develops and oversees critical CalTPA support: including but not limited to training and support, success rate presentation and alignment of coursework to TPA criteria.  

 

Qualifications:

  1. Masters degree in Education-related field required.  Terminal degree preferred.
  1. California teaching experience required. Program management in an educational setting preferred. 
  1. California Teaching Credential required. 
  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) 
  1. Proficient in Canvas, One-Drive and is able to integrate new programs as required.  
  2. Ability to communicate with students, other faculty and school & district administrators.

Essential Functions:

  1. Work with credential analyst to organize and present application process to credential candidates, including Liberal Studies undergraduates and potential program candidates.
  1. Advise interns and student-teachers for appropriate registration. 
  2. Coordinate assignments for University Supervisors and Peer Support Providers. Monitor and troubleshoot progress of supervision throughout each semester. 
  3. Provide input for TED schedule and invite presenters if needed. Facilitate class meetings including distant students. Set up TED courses in canvas, including syllabi, video links and assignments for students at a distance and post grades. 
  4. Conduct Orientation for Interns and Student-Teachers, University Supervisor Meeting, and Peer Support Provider Training.
  5. As needed, contact school districts for MOU’s.
  6. Facilitate training for university supervisors, master teachers, and peer support.
  7. Work with Credential Analyst to ensure requirements for placement are met. 
  8. Conduct exit interviews with completers and review program and Peer Support Provider evaluations to recommend program improvement to Dean and Faculty. 
  9. Keep up to date on California requirements for Interns and Student-Teachers, including attendance at appropriate workshops and webinars provided by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. 
  10. Work with Faculty on approval of candidates to advance to clinical practice.
  11. Work with staff and Dean to organize the Medallion Ceremony in January and May. 
  12. Attend Advisory Board Breakfast in October and March. 
  13. Input grades and attendance, as needed, provide Credential Analyst with copies of “pass”.
  14. Monitor the CTC for updates on TPA’s. 
  15. Serve as CalTPA Coordinator, provide CTC-approved preparation materials to all interns & student-teachers, provide instruction, support and completion timelines.
  16. Interview applicants to the Teacher Credential program and advise on Educational plans.
