Job Summary:

A Body Shop Technician does mechanical repairs to collision damaged vehicles and is required to be competent in collision damage analysis and correction. This position is required to restore collision damaged vehicles to a like pre-loss condition, assisting other personnel with estimating, supplementing and completing collision repairs on customer vehicles.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identify and report collision damage and repair requirements.
  • Understand manufacturer and industry repair procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair structural damages.
  • Replace or repair collision related body and mechanical components.
  • Replace or repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling.
  • Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed.
  • Must read, interpret, and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Understanding of automotive systems.
  • Ability to use the diagnostic equipment and tools including power tools.
  • Willingness to learn with hands-on training.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Ability to provide friendly customer service.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Automotive, autobody experience and training preferred.
  • Working knowledge of industry and manufacturer guidelines and safety procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • ASE, I-CAR and manufacturer certifications preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, squatting, pulling and lifting.
