We are hiring a Fermentation Technician to work with our great Brew team and create our kombucha by brewing tea, fermenting, and finishing the product with flavor and carbonation in the most effective and efficient way. This position is responsible for every aspect of the product from start to finish, implementing strict, predetermined procedures and protocol. Successful candidates need to be able to work well in a team-oriented environment to accomplish the company’s strategic initiatives while providing excellent service to our many internal and external customers.


We are actively seeking Fermentation Technicians for the following opening(s):

Monday - Thursday (4/10s): Evening Shift (2pm-12:30am)


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make finished (flavored) kombucha according to predetermined recipes
  • Works in compliance with Food Safety Management System and GMP's
  • Adhere to SQF standards
  • Perform brewing operations according to current SOP’s & SSOP’s
  • Complete process checklist & EOD reports
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment and work areas
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects in brewing
  • Complete daily interdepartmental check ins on a variety of communication platforms
  • Maintain accurate, thorough and up to date tracking records of all brewing processes: OBEER, logs, inventory counts, batch tickets
  • Ability to perform daily quality assurance and quality control checks on fermenting, raw and finished kombucha
  • Mandatory attendance at departmental and company wide meetings
  • Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and react well under pressure.
  • PTO/Clocking in/out
  • Perform working compliance with following safety policies within the Humm Kombucha safety manual
  • Perform all physical requirements as listed below
  • All other duties as assigned

COMPENSATION:

Wages: The starting wage for this role depends on your previous experience. Base wages when joining this team start at $19.50/hour for candidates with less direct experience. More opportunities for wage increases are also associated with company performance bonuses, individual performance reviews, and promotional opportunities.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 6 months brewing experience in a professional brewing/fermentation environment, manufacturing/food processing experience strongly preferred
  • Strong verbal communication & organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and react well under pressure.
  • Ability to follow precise instructions
  • Manual labor experience
  • Willingness to learn
  • Proficient in the basic computer skills; spreadsheets, email & word processing. Google Suite experience preferred
  • Be able to obtain forklift operator certification within 30 days from starting

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Lift 55 pounds frequently
  • Work at heights while lifting
  • Loud, acidic and humid working environment
  • Indoor, outdoor and refrigerated environments in all weather conditions
  • Working with forklifts, pallet jacks, high powered pumps, chemicals, extreme temperature liquids, heavy equipment
  • Work on your feet for 8-10 hours daily
  • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, weekends, evenings, split and graveyard/nights as needed with notice
