Job Title: Special Education Teacher - Elementary ASD Room
Location: Ypsilanti, MI
Start Date: ASAP - June 14, 2024
Hours: Full-Time, 9:10 am - 4:40 pm
Caseload: Elementary, ASD Room - 5 students with 2 dedicated paraprofessionals in the room
Contract Type: Temporary
Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Ypsilanti, MI. This position involves working with a small caseload of elementary students in an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) classroom. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with special needs, excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to create and implement effective individualized education plans (IEPs).
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs for students in the ASD classroom
- Create engaging and inclusive lesson plans tailored to students' needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff to ensure a positive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and goals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Michigan state teaching license in Special Education (or ability to obtain)
- Experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
