Anoka County Administration serves as the central management office of county government. It is the responsibility of the Administration Department, under the direction of the county administrator, to assure that all County Board policies are implemented and to coordinate overall operations of the county. We are currently seeking a Lead Project Manager to oversee the daily activities associated with Anoka County projects including time estimates, resource allocation, project status updates, and managing critical path and milestone deadlines. This position performs project management oversight and coordinates with internal and external customers and vendors. The Lead Project Manager develops project plans and contingencies, manages schedules, selects and coordinates with vendors, and provides overall direction to maximize product quality and ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.

This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position located at the Anoka County Government Center.

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary: $111,113 to $133,307 ($53.42 to $64.09 per hour).

  • 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 40. $111,113 to $155,500 ($53.42 to $74.76 per hour).

  • This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center located at 2100 3rd Avenue, Anoka, MN 55303.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Lead Project Manager.

  • Serve as the primary contact and manager for complex projects across Anoka County, ensuring that project objectives are delivered on time, within budget, and with a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Establish and implement project management processes and methodologies for goal achievement.

  • Oversee progress of project milestones, budgetary guidelines, and/or other performance indicators.

  • Develop customized reporting, analysis tools, models, data gathering systems, documentation procedures, and quality performance standards as needed to complete projects.

  • Develop and implement reports, standards, schedules, and contracts in support of Anoka County projects.

  • Perform long-term and multifactor feasibility studies by identifying resources required, derived benefits, operating expense, and alternatives to the proposed project.

  • Develop and implement solutions to customer and vendor needs to ensure smooth delivery of projects. Interface with internal and external project stakeholders affected by and contributing to the projects.

  • Liaise and coordinate with other departments to achieve and meet the county's current and future objectives and providing direction and oversight for tasks and troubleshooting pertaining to assigned projects.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of job-related experience

  • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis

  • Successfully pass driver's license background check

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Project Management experience

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment, and outdoor work sites in all weather conditions depending on assignment

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness

  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds

  • Ability to detect, discern, and tolerate a wide range of scents required for safety and performance of essential duties

  • Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing

  • Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, walking on sloped or uneven terrain, and handling/carrying equipment

  • Regular lifting of 0-25 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.

  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment in addition to security technology equipment depending on assignment

  • Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed

  • Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle

  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, prolonged vibration from machinery, and other hazards is possible while performing essential duties
