The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) Huntingdon is seeking a qualified Food Service Supervisor to join our team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you perform supervisory work over large-scale food preparation and the food serving area on an assigned shift at SCI Huntingdon. You supervise, coordinate, inspect, and evaluate the work performed in the preparation, production, serving, baking, meat cutting, and sanitation of the kitchen. This includes supervising food service personnel while maintaining order and discipline among inmate workers. You also establish work procedures, schedule work, and allocate staff to meet time requirements. In addition, you maintain records and reports relating to menus, recipes, orders, requisitions, inventory, food service personnel, and inmate help.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
  • Work hours are 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM, works every other weekend with rotating days off.
  • This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation, which included one year of lead work experience; or
  • One year of experience as a Corrections Food Service Instructor; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which included one year of lead work experience.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
