Mill Operator

This position is required to operate a pipe mill to cut and weld rolled sheet steel into pipe according to customer/client specification using tools and equipment designated for this task.

· Start and set up machine and heavy equipment for daily operation

· Monitor machine and equipment performance, completing preventative maintenance, adjusting, and/or making repairs as needed

· Perform quality control following reporting and recordkeeping procedures

· Follow drawings / blueprints to cut and weld pipe to project/client specifications

· Operate crane to maneuver steel rolls into position on mill

· Operate forklift to place finished pipe in the proper storage location

· Use various small tools including calipers, tape measures and angle gauges

· Follow all safety regulations and protocols

· Perform shop math including decimal to fraction equivalents

· Follows instructions both verbally and written

· Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition

· Punctual and reliable attendance

· Other tasks and responsibilities may be added at management’s discretion

· Time management – Manages time by prioritizing and organizing workload to achieve maximum productivity and adjusting as situations change

· Attention to detail – Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved and able to verify the correctness or error in individual or part of procedure

· Safety – Complies with all workplace and trade safety laws, regulations, standards, and practices identifying and correction conditions as needed

· Dependability - Punctual and fulfills work and time requirements by adhering to work schedule and complies with attendance and leave policies and plans accordingly for absence

· 2 years’ experience fabrication facility

· Mechanically Inclined Required
