Southwest Airlines promises to provide Employees with equal opportunity for learning and personal growth.The Network Planning Consultant who works in Decision Support and Operations Research drives the strategy, analysis, implementation, and tracking of schedule initiatives that aim to achieve positive and sustainable results as well as maximize revenue and operational improvement. This role collaborates with operational and commercial Teams across the company to ensure a comprehensive understanding of Network Planning viewpoints. The Network Planning Consultant serves as an inventive and strategic visionary that contributes to advancements in commercial, schedule, or operational procedures which positively impacts the performance of Southwest Airlines.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week.The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Develop business insights from quantitative and qualitative information
  • Structure complex and ambiguous problems and act to holistically solve them
  • Distills complex problems and data sets into simple summaries that can be understood by all levels of Leadership
  • Identifies opportunities through analysis that drive business decisions and long-term strategy
  • Create value through identifying and recommending business improvements
  • Develop and coordinate well-written presentations that are clear and convey key information, including business cases, roadmaps, and other materials that support alignment efforts
  • Coordinate cross-functionally and lead meetings with key stake holders
  • Lead special projects and initiatives that arise from operational or commercial challenges
  • Communicate timelines, risks, issues and decisions to Network Planning Sr. Leadership and/or commercial and operational Leaders
  • Drive consensus among multiple parties with conflicting and diverse viewpoints
  • Act as a thought leader and serve as a trusted subject matter expert
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leader
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, influencing and coordination of people and resources
  • Advanced skills in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organizations strategic planning
  • Advanced skills in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Advanced skills in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Ability to effectively listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing and/or in speaking with all levels of the organization, including executives
  • Ability to self-start and work autonomously, with limited and disparate information
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and visualizing data to drive insights using tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, R, SQL, Python, think-cell, MS Excel, etc.
  • Advanced skills in synthesizing complex information within PowerPoint presentations and delivering them to affected stakeholders
  • Ability to use statistical and mathematical models to draw conclusions
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to function under stress, meet deadlines, prioritize multiple/competing tasks, and work collaboratively with a team
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Preferred: Experience in SQL queries, Alteryx/Python, and Tableau
  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • Working with Department Leaders on complex business changes and improvements
    • Developing and executing business plans
    • Managing all phases of large-scale programs, with an emphasis on complex business change
    • Developing and presenting recommendations to Senior Executives on self-created opportunities
    • Aviation industry experience in quantitative roles in departments such as Finance, Revenue Management, Operations or Network Planning
    • Descriptive and diagnostic data analytics
    • Transportation operations or traffic or profitability analysis experience
    • Finance, Network Planning, Revenue Management, or Operational Planning

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be able to work extended hours based on operational needs

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $107,650 - $119,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunitiesare available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
