Job Description:

The Manager Schedule Design leadsthe Schedule Design Team that builds the input files for optimization software such as SkySuite. This role executes the analyses related to design to support business and strategic decisions (Connecting Structures, Hawaii, International, Slot Portfolio) and communicates all structural changes to the Southwest Network. This Manager Schedule Design is an analytical thinker and problem solver that is ready to drive the future of Southwest's Network Planning.

Job Responsibilities

  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding the production of future schedules
  • Make presentations to various internal and external partners and functions on Schedule Design
  • Manage the development of weekend capacity and provided compelling recommendations for Design
  • Create relevant KPIs and aligning performance reporting with Leaders across Network Planning and other impacted organizations
  • Responsible for effectively teaming with Leaders across the organization for effective integration of commercial and operational requirements and representing the Department with integrated teams
  • Responsible for providing quality recommendations and communication for the investment of available aircraft resources
  • Develop an effective Schedule Review process with both Capacity Planning and Schedule Development, ensuring goals and objectives were met in the schedule creation process
  • Plan needed requirements beyond the current base schedule and communicate potential concerns to Network Planning Sr. Leadership
  • Support the Network Initiatives Team, within Network Planning, in tool creation by acting as the Business Owner of the project
  • Responsible for governance of commercial planning and schedule development goals to ensure design requirements are met and current
  • Promote innovation and advancement of aircraft schedule design principles through analytics as well as recommending advancements in tooling capabilities
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employees Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of how schedule designs align with company objectives
  • Knowledge of the process for gathering business requirements for a technology implementation project
  • Knowledge of how to translate business needs into releases that strategically deliver business value
  • Knowledge of how to read market landscape and implement best practices to remain competitive

  • Education
    • Required: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience
    • Preferred: Experience in SkySuite and SPN
    • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
    • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
      • Commercial and Operational performance metrics and targets
      • Airline industry knowledge, including an understanding of competitors operational and commercial tactics and recent performance
      • Aviation networks, including primary focus cities, network design strategies, knowledge in route planning, scheduling and financial KPIs
      • Aircraft schedule design principles
      • Preferred: Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint experience

  • Physical Abilities
    • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
    • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

    • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $124,550 - $138,400 per year * depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunitiesare available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
